Just as staff members aren't given exceptions to guidelines neither are charities. The saying, theory, however you want to call it goes: once you let one person go, you have to let everyone else.

Good post. Smile

I always ask for proof of charitable status via notarized copies of their filed and approved paperwork. So far, only 1 has ever complied.

That's very interesting, Mr. Hubbard. Not a bad requirement to ask for. Is there some online clearing house of charities that might make it easier for administrators to verify their status without asking for notarized copies of documents, etc.?

Thanks,

Patrick

Found this at the IRS
Quote:
In addition, you may verify an organization's tax-exempt status and eligibility to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions by asking to see an organization's IRS letter recognizing it as tax-exempt. You may also confirm an organization's status by calling the IRS (toll-free) at 1-877-829-5500.
